Biography

After completing my PhD at Lancaster University in 2014, I have held several academic positions, including Lecturer in Economics at the University of East Anglia, Senior Research Associate at the Centre for Competition Policy, and Senior Lecturer in Economics at the University of Huddersfield. In September 2022, I joined the University of Manchester as a Senior Lecturer (T&S) in Economics, where I also serve as the Deputy Director for the PPE programme.

I am an associate of the Economics Network, a mentoring program manager for The Women in Economics initiative, a member of the Editorial Board of The Economic Review, and a member of the T&L Northwest Economics Network.

My research interests include applied microeconomics, social and cultural economics, and economic education. I have collaborated on interdisciplinary projects addressing disintermediation and digitalisation in the creative industries and other issues within the cultural and creative industries. Currently, I am involved in a project with Creative Manchester and Factory International, examining the social and economic impacts on the theatre industry. Additionally, my research on social learning and gender differences has led to several relevant publications.

At the University of Manchester, I hold a teaching and scholarship position. I have contributed to pedagogical research. My current research explores using social networks to enhance engagement and implement a research-led curriculum (linked to the Instagram account @dailylifeecon), and the benefits of peer-to-peer review in interdisciplinary group work.

I am also a mentor for The Women in Economics Initiative and Manchester Gold, and I am currently pursuing the ILM5 certificate in mentoring and coaching.
