Sofia Yasmin is an Associate Professor of Accounting at Alliance Manchester Business School. She is Associate Head of Social Responsibility for the Accounting and Finance Division and was previously the Programme Director for MSc Accounting.
Sofia’s research interests lie in the area of critical accounting with a particular focus on examining accounting and accountability practices at the ‘margins’. She is particularly interested in researching areas where governance and accountability relationships are either developing or directly challenged by pressurised and politicized institutional contexts.
Her current research agenda is developing a broader analysis and critique of governance and accountability for NGOs operating in the field of conservation and sustainable development. She is also examining the role of accounting and the accounting profession in contexts of marginalisation.
Sofia's research has been published in world leading journals including, Journal of Business Ethics, Accounting, Auditing and Accountability Journal and Critical Perspectives on Accounting.
