Biography

Stefania is a Senior Lecturer in Employment Studies at the AMBS. She has previously worked at several projects (Leverhulme, EC, ESRC) within the European Work and Employment Research Centre (EWERC) and Fairness at Work Research Centre (FairWRC) of the University of Manchester. She has been a research associate at the University of Milan, a teaching fellow at the University of Bologna and has visited the University of Amsterdam (AIAS-UvA and IMES-UvA) during her doctoral studies.

Stefania's research interests are in the field of labour sociology, international migration and industrial relations, with a particular focus on international and comparative analysis. Stefania has been recipient of an ESRC Future Research Leader fellowship (2012-2015) to investigate trade union strategies towards migrant workers and has carried out research on this topic in the UK, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain.

She is a co-leader of the Immigration, Immigrants and the labour Market (IILME) Standing Committee within the IMISCOE European Research Network. Stefania is a member of the ESRC Peer Review College and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Research interests

Stefania's research interests are in the field of labour sociology, international migration and industrial relations, with a particular focus on international and comparative perspectives. She has conducted extensive research on trade union strategies towards migrant and precarious workers and looked at trade unions role in promoting labour market regulation and social inclusion.
