Overview

Immunologist specialising in autoimmune diseases with a focus on translational science. My current work centres on investigating refractory rheumatoid arthritis (RA) at the single-cell level, employing ATAC and RNA sequencing on CD4+ T cells, along with a mouse model in which RA-associated SNPs affecting a gene involved in apoptosis and thymic negative selection have been deleted. This research aims to elucidate how genetic alterations in immune tolerance mechanisms contribute to RA, with the goal of identifying novel therapeutic targets to restore immune balance in treatment-resistant patients.

Currently collaborating with the University of Oxford to enhance understanding of osteoarthritis, with a focus on identifying key genetic variants that regulate gene expression in this most common form of arthritis in the UK.
