Personal profile

Research interests

  • Toxicity prediction modeling using radiotherapy dose & genomics data in prostate cancer
  • Quantitative [18F]NaF PET imaging in metastatic and metabolic bone diseases
  • Quantitative hypoxia imaging using [18F]FMISO in rectal cancer and [64Cu]CuATSM in head & neck cancer
  • Quantitative measurement of microparameters like (K-tr, Vp, Ve) in lung using DCE-MRI

Overview

Affiliations:

  • Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health, School of Medical Sciences, Division of Cancer Sciences, Cancer Sciences
  • The Christie NHS Foundation Trust

Methodological knowledge

  • Developed methods to measure Ki in bones using a static 4-min or a dynamic 12-min [18F]NaF PET scans, which was previously possible only using a 60-min dynamic PET scan
  • Developed methods & software tools to measure Ki at the hip using 60-min dynamic [18F]NaF PET scans. Furthermore, provided evidence to suggest that it is the reduction in the blood flow that causes a reduction in bone metabolism at the hip compared to that at the lumbar spine
  • Developed a semi-population-based method to estimate accurate arterial input function using 2-3 venous blood samples only.
  • Developed a method to spatially align [64Cu]CuATSM PET images and histology samples of the standard block size (30x21mm)
  • Provided evidence to suggest that [18F]FMISO PET should be used to assess hypoxia in rectal cancer with extreme caution
  • Developed a software tool to measure changes in pulmonary vascular properties in a human model of acute lung injury using DCE-MRI
