About
Dr Terence Morley BEng BSc(Hons) FHEA CMath MIMA
Roles:
- Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Manchester.
- Manager of third year undergraduate projects.
- Assessor for the University of Manchester LEAP scheme for fellowship of AdvanceHE (HEA).
- Academic Representative for the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications (IMA).
Research Interests
My main interests are in the fields of Image Processing and Computer Vision.
I have recently completed a PhD in Computer Vision in the Advanced Interfaces Group under the supervision of Dr Tim Morris and Dr Martin Turner.
The aim of the research was to develop algorithms to allow an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) to locate itself by visual means. There is a need for this so that UAVs can locate themselves and navigate in environments where GPS is not available or has been denied in some way.
Professional Career
I was employed as a Project Engineer from 1996-2017 creating software systems for companies ranging in size from small family businesses to large multi-nationals.
Professional Membership
CMath MIMA - Chartered Mathematician, Member of The Institute of Mathematics and its Applications.
I am a member of the IMA so that I can support the promotion of mathematics and its applications in the UK. I am very proud to have been awarded the status of Chartered Mathematician.
