I have co-supervised to completion two PhD thesis in the area of textual and visual studies:

Professional advisory work and service

I have acted as peer reviewer for Essays in French Literature and Culture

From April 2019-April 2023, I was secretary of the Society of Dix-Neuviémistes (British society for the study of Nineteenth-century France)

Research interests

- Nineteenth-century Literature

- Exoticism in Fiction (nineteenth-century and late eighteenth-century)

- Bernardin de Saint-Pierre (contributed to volumes 2 and 4 of the new edition of the Oeuvres completes)

- Critical Theory (formalist approaches to literature; textual and visual studies)

- French Colonial Literature and Culture (1880-1939) and the interwar pro-imperial propaganda
