I am currently co-supervising two PhD students working in the area of textual and visual studies:

Simona Amariutei working on non-objectivity in the fiction of Andrei Bely (main supervisor: Prof. Stephen Hutchings)

Eman Alamri working on the representation of women in Saudi caricatures (1960-present) (main supervisor: Prof. Zahia Smail Salhi)

Professional advisory work and service

I have acted as peer reviewer for Essays in French Literature and Culture

From April 2019-April 2023, I was secretary of the Society of Dix-Neuviémistes (British society for the study of Nineteenth-century France)

- Nineteenth-century Literature

- Exoticism in Fiction (nineteenth-century and late eighteenth-century)

- Bernardin de Saint-Pierre (currently member of the editorial team preparing the new edition of the Oeuvres completes)

- Critical Theory (formalist approaches to literature; textual and visual studies)

- French Colonial Literature and Culture (1880-1939) and the interwar pro-imperial propaganda
