Personal profile

Biography

I obtained my undergraduate degree in Biomedical Sciences and Master’s in Pharmacology from Sheffield Hallam University in 2012. I then worked for Parexel and the University of Surrey on clinical research studies before joining an EU Marie Curie funded PhD studentship at the University of Manchester in 2014. Here, I investigated volatile metabolite profiling methods for phenotyping respiratory disease with Profs Stephen Fowler and Roy Goodacre. During my PhD I had a two-year placement at Philips Research in Eindhoven.

After my PhD, I was a post-doc on an Innovate UK project with Profs Mike Turner and Krishna Persaud in the Department of Chemistry. I then moved to my second post-doc position with Prof Stephen Fowler working on respiratory disease breath biomarker development funded by NIHR grants and the Manchester BRC.

I am currently based in the Respiratory group at Wythenshawe Hospital and carry out my research within the Manchester Breathomics group and Centre for Precision Approaches to Combatting AMR.

I am interested in using metabolomics to understand respiratory disease metabolism and drug tolerance, particularly in asthma, interstitial lung diseases and ventilator-associated pneumonia.
