William currently works in the Department of Law and Social Justice at the University of Liverpool. His research looks at young asylum seeker’s experience of the asylum system in the UK. His current project (Lives on Hold Our Stories Told) looks at the impact of Covid-19 on Albanian young asylum seekers (16-25).
He recently finished work on an ESRC project entitled ‘Together and Apart: the Dynamics of Ethnic Diversity, Segregation and Social Cohesion among Young People and Adults’ with Dr James Laurence. William was also a UK Data Service Impact Fellow and a recipient of the ESRC Baltic Scholarship (University of Latvia).
William completed his PhD in Sociology with a project that looked at the 'Residential Patterns and Decision-Making of Polish Internal Migrants in Britain’. Before joining the Cathie Marsh Institute (CMI), Will was a member of the Centre of Dynamics of Ethnicity (CoDE) and recently co-edited a book entitled ‘State of the Nation’. Will previously worked as a research assistant at the University of Manchester and the University of Birmingham as well as worked on several public and mental health projects in India, Nepal and Sri Lanka.
