Personal profile
Overview
Xinyue Dong is a PhD Candidate in Planning, Property, and Environmental Management at the University of Manchester, supervised by Professor Mark Baker, Dr Razieh Zandieh, and Dr Caglar Koksal. Her doctoral research, Towards Age-Friendly Neighbourhoods: Evaluating Participation and Policy Outcomes in Neighbourhood Planning in England, investigates how older adults engage in planning processes and how local policies reflect age-friendly priorities.
She is affiliated with the Manchester Urban Ageing Research Group (MUARG) and the Spatial Policy and Analysis Research Group (SPA) at the University of Manchester. She also contributes to interdisciplinary dialogue through her role as Project Lead on the “Universalisms vs Particularisms in Global Urban Studies” initiative, funded by the University’s Interdisciplinary Postgraduate Research Group Grant.
Xinyue is a Teaching Assistant and TA Representative in the School of Environment, Education and Development, where she supports both undergraduate and postgraduate modules on land development, urban theory, planning policy, urban design, and environmental change.
Her research interests lie at the intersection of age-friendly urban policy, collaborative governance, age-friendly, and inclusive planning.
Xinyue’s broader experience spans editorial writing for Urban China Magazine, stakeholder engagement in urban design projects in China and Uganda, and applied policy research with planning institutes in Zhejiang and Shenzhen. She holds an MSc in Planning from the University of Manchester and a BA in Environmental Design from Zhejiang University.
