Personal profile
Overview
I am a PhD student in Politics at the University of Manchester. I am working on a project about how Liberal Democracy should defend itself from the challenges of illiberal without violating liberal commitments and principles, involving the debate between moralism and realism, which aims at providing a solution for the effective self-defence of liberal democracy but also responding to the theoretical opponents and practical demands of political liberalism. My project supervised by Professor James Pattison and Dr Jonathan Benson, is based in the Manchester Centre for Political Theory (MANCEPT).
Research interests
My research mainly focuses on contemporary political philosophy/theory, particularly on liberal theory, Rawlsian Political Liberalism, debates on the nature and normative source of politics (political moralism and realism) and democratic self-defence. The topics that interest me include (but are not limited to) Political legitimacy, Democracy back-sliding, Political polarization, Ideal and Non-ideal theory, Pluralism and Agonism.
