Overview

PhD (Education), MSc (TESOL), MBA, BA (Hons) TESL

I am Lecturer in Intercultural Education at the Manchester Institute of Education. My research expertise focuses broadly on intercultural education and creative methods for educational research. I am particularly interested in developing critical understandings of students and their intercultural experience in higher education.

I primarily teach on the MA International Education where I lead the EDUC70621 course unit Intercultural Communication in Education. I am also the Programme Director for the MA International Education. 

Main Research interests

Intercultural Education:

  • Critical understandings of students and student experiences 
  • Student belonging and inclusion 
  • Creative approaches with ('international') students
  • Intercultural ethics, epistemic justice, and epistemological plurality 
  • Intercultural mindfulness

Creative Methods:

  • Imagination methodology
  • visual arts methods: e.g. 'blind'-portrait, photography, painting, collage, art-gallery visiting
