Personal profile
Overview
Zixuan Cheng is a first-year PhD(Mphill) student. He takes part in OSCA(Observation System for Clean Air) winter campaign in London BT tower. And then he will do the Black Carbon flux work. He will also utilise data from the NERC air quality supersite network, in particular the Manchester site in Fallowfield and the data from the intensive operating periods in the summer of 2021 and winter of 2022.
Many sources of data will be brought together using state-of-the-art multivariate analysis techniques including machine learning. The measurements will include a detailed compositional analysis of both the gas and particle phases. Comparisons will be made with other existing datasets and future measurements at this or other sites. This will ultimately improve the understanding of the factors controlling pollutant concentrations and their effects on human health.
