Optometry's Dr Amit N. Jinabhai was awarded an individual 'Teaching Excellence Award' in July 2021

Teaching Excellence Awards (TEAs)
The University of Manchester's Teaching Excellence Awards (TEAs) are made in recognition of significant and sustained commitment to excellence in the delivery and/or support of teaching and learning at UG or PGT level, which includes developing innovative digital learning and assessment tools.
 
Reflecting the evolution of our practice and ways of working, we have reshaped our Teaching Excellence Awards to celebrate the strength and diversity of practice in our University of Manchester community.

Amit's submission clearly demonstrated how his teaching activities have contributed to the following strategic themes:

TEAs winners are celebrated:
*Gifted a commemorative trophy
*Invited to a formal awards ceremony (16th Sept 2021)

TEA winners are invited to play a role in teaching and learning development at University level: 
*Gain the permanent title of honorary Fellow of the Institute of Teaching and Learning 
*Granted access to the Fellows Network 
*Given the opportunity to attend the University’s Teaching and Learning Engagement Forum for the year in which they receive their Award 
*Be encouraged to act as ambassadors for teaching and learning within the University and beyond.

TEA winners are also offered personal development opportunities: 
*Access to the national AdvanceHE Teaching Excellence Awards pipeline (National Teaching Fellow / Collaborative Award for Teaching Excellence) run by the Institute of Teaching and Learning. 
*An invitation to contribute guest post(s) on the University's Institute of Teaching and Learning blog.
