Project Details

Description

Ambition for Ageing (AfA) is a Greater Manchester wide programme aimed at creating more age-friendly places and empowering people to live fulfilling lives as they age. It is funded by the Big Lottery Fund’s Ageing Better programme, which aims to reduce social isolation for adults over the age of 50. The Ambition for Ageing programme works by providing small investments to groups and individuals to help develop age-friendly places. It based on a ‘test and learn’ model meaning the programme also aims to develop learning on what works in reducing social isolation for older people.
The programme is led by Greater Manchester Centre for Voluntary Organisation (GMCVO) in collaboration with several partners of which the Manchester Institute for Collaborative Research on Ageing (MICAR) is one with the role of bringing academic research on social isolation, age-friendly neighbourhoods and co-research into the programme.
