Beyond the Creative City

Project Details

Description

‘Beyond the Creative City’ is a trilateral collaboration project between the University of Toronto, the University of Melbourne and the University of Manchester convened by Dr Abigail Gilmore (Creative Manchester/Institute of Cultural Practices).

The project brings together academics from across disciplines for knowledge exchange and research agenda-setting on the topic of the ‘creative city-region’. The project asks what happens ‘beyond the creative city’ in endemic and post-Covid urban spaces including small cities, satellite towns, peri-urban settlements, peripheral suburbs, and diffuse networks brought together through digital technologies.

Taking the city-regions of Manchester, Melbourne and Toronto as exemplar cases, the project brings together expertise, research power, and emerging disciplinary lenses in agenda-setting and scoping.
