The workshop seeks to situate discussion of the ancient Egyptian face within research undertaken at the University of Manchester historically. Speakers will reflect on the extent to which interdisciplinary perspectives allow us both to better understand ancient values attributed to the human face and our modern need to reconstruct them.

The project aims to reassess some of the issues surrounding the reconstruction of historical faces through interdisciplinary conversations across a wide range of research fields, including: Science and Engineering, Dentistry and Maxillofacial surgery, Anatomy, Egyptology, Ancient History and History, Art History, Archaeology.
