Homicide followed by suicide

Description

We have collected data on homicide followed by suicide since April 1996 and will continue to report the incidence in our annual reports. A related PhD studied these incidents using additional information from coroners' files, police records, GP medical records and newspaper articles. The PhD study concluded in March 2013.

The incidence of homicide followed by suicide has been reported in our Annual Reports since 2013. Figures were also published in our reports Avoidable Deaths (2006) and Safety First (2001). Findings from the PhD study of homicide followed by suicide have been published in three research papers.
