Improved face-worn PPE designs for use by the public and professionals to reduce audio-visual communication difficulties

Project Details

Description

This is a 12-month project in which we proposed to produce a variety of “communication-aware” designs suitable for PPE. The range of protection offered is intended to span designs suitable for home manufacture (and therefore lower degrees of protection), to designs that are candidates for use in medical settings (subject, of course) to relevant regulatory approval.

In a sub-study we are conducting a online study to differentiate between the acoustic impacts of face coverinsg and the impacts associated withinability to see the lips and facial expressions.
