Laser Processing Research Centre Impact

Project Details

Description

The Laser Processing Research Centre (LPRC) was established on 1st April 2020 by Professor Lin Li as its director. Its predecessor, The Laser Processing Laboratory started was developed on 1st September 1994. The Centre sits within the Department of Mechanical, Aerospace and Civil Engineering at The University of Manchester and performs advanced modelling and technical innovations in the field of laser based advanced manufacturing and synthesis of new materials.

Our research focuses on four distinct areas:
• additive manufacturing;
• computer simulation and modelling;
• cutting, drilling, welding and surface modification including cleaning, texturing and alloying;
• micro and nano fabrication, nanophotonics;
• hybrid laser and non-laser manufacturing processes.
