Project Details
Description
Building on my previous research on nuclear decommissioning, this project draws on ethnographic fieldwork in four areas of nuclear decommissioning and/or waste management. What social and ecological futures might be foreseen in such areas, which should lend themselves well to 'futuring' given the rich variety in temporalities associated with nuclear operations, materialities, and socialities? The project uses experimental methods in engaging with local players. I am particularly interested in the role of (physical or conceptual) models in human imagining of futures - hence the prominence of 'mimesis' in the project title.
