Research Licence into use and access ACT assessment tool, training programme and global research data.

Project Details

Description

Internationally, many things that matter most to older people for their wellbeing, independence, health and care are not addressed. Concerns and threats are often not identified. Resources that can address needs are not used. Decades of work in assessment of older people, through tools to identify threats to older people’s wellbeing, independence and health, has examined these issues.  Such assessment tools have been used in the UK, for example by NHS Trusts, in social care and as part of Department of Health Demonstration Programmes.

Dr Paul Clarkson is a partner to Age Care Technologies (ACTTM), a company previously involved in many of these initiatives, which is now developing:

ACT Assessment; a digitised care-planning tool, which identifies and matches the needs of older people to local resources. It builds on 30 years of research and development and validation in 50 countries worldwide.

ACT Analytics; using anonymous information collected during use of ACT Assessments, to provide a unique, global dataset about the concerns, local resources, outcomes of intervention and trajectories in older people’s wellbeing, independence, social connection and health.  Data analytic services are available for research using this unique data.

Access to these two products, for University of Manchester research investigators, is now agreed through a research licence.  Investigators wishing to use the ACT Assessment tool, in research studies or with health or care providers, or to have access to the Analytics data base, through use of the assessments, should contact Paul Clarkson.

Partners in this agreement are:

Dr Paul Clarkson, Senior Lecturer in Social Care/Deputy Director, Social Care and Society, University of Manchester.
