Suicide in current and recently discharged psychiatric in-patients: A case-control study

Project Details

Description

In this study we compared psychiatric patients who died by suicide within 3 months of in-patient discharge, with living patients discharged on the same date in order to identify risk factors for suicide and variations in care.

The study concluded in March 2007 and was funded by the National Patient Safety Agency (NPSA).

Findings were published in three research papers. Data from the study also helped develop the subsequent case-control study 'Suicide in recently admitted psychiatric in-patients'.
