Description
This study was commissioned by Professor Clive Agnew, Vice President Teaching, Learning and Students, Office of The President and Vice Chancellor, to gain a better understanding of students’ and staff members experience and awareness of hate crime at The University of Manchester.
The study aimed to:
• Identify the prevalence of hate crime for students of the University of Manchester;
• Examine the perceived impact on student’s well-being and academic performance following hate crime victimisation;
• Explore the barriers and perceived consequences of reporting hate crime;
• Identify the training needs of staff in identifying and preventing hate crime on campus;
• Develop recommendations for students and staff to access information and seek help following a hate crime incident.
