abstract = "The contribution explores the variety of forms of the Syriac Melkite Octoechos, as they appear in the manuscripts from the 11th to the 13th century. Within these thematic and chronological frameworks, I discuss the following: to what extent the Syriac book of Octoechos reflects, in its historical development, the contents and structure of its Greek prototype; and whether the book itself provides an evidence of gradual translation process involving different stages and undergoing influence of various local liturgical traditions? The main focus are the earliest dated manuscript of the Octoechos originating from the Black Mountain in Antioch (e.g. BL Add. 14,510, 1056 AD), and those undated patterns, which are similar to it in terms of paleography and contents (The Syriac Galen Palimpsest et al.).",
