Abstract
The book demonstrates that a complex set of the US monetary, fiscal, and geopolitical policies were responsible for the Global Financial Crisis of 2008. The paradoxes, however, consisted in the rational economic, financial and political foundations of these well-intentioned policies that, nevertheless, led to disastrous results. The GFC, therefore, appeared to be not only a crisis of financial and economic activity, but also a crisis of popular academic theories of economics and markets.
