Abstract
Abstract: Concerning the complexity and the fuzziness of the concept of innovation clusters, this article integrates interdisciplinary knowledge streams of geography, technologies, and industries to conceptualize the synergistic evolution of innovation clusters. Firstly, the connotation of “clusters”, as well as the evolution of global value chains and global technology chains, is revealed. Following the logic, a mixed dynamic system is constructed, composed of push forces, gravitational forces and self-organizing forces along global technology chains and global value chains. From a globalization perspective, policy implications for science, technology, and industry are provided.
