Abstract

As a world famous scholar, Prof. Mona Baker has initiated new trends in the field of translation studies, most notably in the area of corpus-based studies. In 2016, she secured one-million pounds worth of funding for the Genealogies of Knowledge research project from the Arts and Humanities Research Council in the UK. Shortly after the project was officially concluded, Prof. Baker and her colleagues established the Genealogies of Knowledge Research Network to develop this new strand of research further. Zhao Wenjing and Yang Guosheng conducted an online interview with Prof. Baker and her coordinators of the Research Network, Dr. Henry Jones and Dr. Jan Buts, to discuss the design of the project, the research methodology for the cross-cultural mediation of concepts, and how it might impact the research agenda of Chinese scholars.
