Abstract

This study illuminates and visualizes the geopolitical code of the Republic of Korea by analyzing president international trips. A President is a geopolitical subject to practice the geopolitical strategies and objectives of the states as well as an agent who participates in the process of construction of geopolitical discourses. The presidential international trips are examples to show how the president practices, constructs and justifies the geopolitical imperatives. This study interprets international presidential trips by applying the concept of geopolitical codes. The findings reveal dramatically increasing number of countries to be visited by the presidents. The results also show that the countries visited represents the statecraft and geopolitical codes of the Republic of Korea. The list of countries of international presidential trip shows the changing geopolitics according to the global and regional geopolitical environment as well.
