    Abstract

The molecular structure of C16H14O5 was investigated. Saturated solutions of S-(+)-mandelic acid was used for the preparation of the compound. It was found that the compound formed four intermolecular hydrogen bonds to four symmetry-related molecules. The hydrogen bonds formed a network comprising two distinct catemeric chains along the shortest crystallographic b axis.
