    Abstract

Electrical capacitance tomography (ECT) technology with 12-electrodes has been developed to provide 2D images of a cross section of cyclone separators. For some applications, e.g. to investigate gas/solids distribution in the cyclone separators, 3D images provide valuable information. This paper presents a method of reconstructing 3D images, using Visual C++ and Open-GL, from 2D images obtained from the ECT system. The feasibility and reliability of this method are verified by the experimental results and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation results.
