    Abstract

A method was developed for the determination of trehalose levels in insect hemolymph. The disaccharide is first purified by gel-permeation chromatography and then quantitated by the anthrone colorimetric procedure. The concentration of trehalose in hemolymph from eleven species is reported. The method is applicable to determinations in other tissues and organisms as well. © 1978.
