A new, rapid 3D tomographic energy dispersive diffraction imaging system for materials characterization and object imaging (rapid TEDDI)

    Abstract

Tomog. energy dispersive diffraction imaging (TEDDI) using white beam synchrotron X-rays has been demonstrated to yield images of the interior features of solid objects non-destructively. However, to image a solid object in three-dimensional (3D) via the currently available TEDDI technique is a very time consuming process. As a consequence, an array solid state detector has been developed together with a high resoln. X-ray collimator array. This system is capable of reducing the time for object scanning from hours to minutes. A wide range of diverse applications will benefit from this new TEDDI system which will provide rapid 3D d. maps with structural and chem. information at each voxel of the image. [on SciFinder(R)]
