A new white-beam powder diffraction facility at the Daresbury Laboratory Synchrotron Radiation Source

    Abstract

    The white-beam powder diffraction facility consists of a beam definition app., a no. of sample environments, and an energy-dispersive powder diffractometer. The facility is optimized for kinetic studies using high-energy x-rays. The facility is equipped with a 1000 metric tons hydraulic press for high-pressure and high-temp. studies. An overview of the station hardware, electronics, and data acquisition software is presented. The use of the facility is illustrated with data collected as part of an in situ, time-resolved study of the high-temp. hydrothermal synthesis of a microporous aluminophosphate (pyH)H2Al2P3O12. The reaction was carried out at 180° and each spectrum was collected for 300 s. [on SciFinder(R)]
