Abstract
The paper presents a novel steam pre-treatment process that uses fabric-width labyrinth seals to contain gaseous a liquid treatment environments at high temperatures and super-atmospheric pressures. It is shown that in on-line dye application, steam pre-heating cotton fabric to 120 degrees C improves the rate of dye penetration and uniformity and makes the substrate more reactive chemically
