Abstract

The adoption of the Declaration of Astana (panel) at the Global Conference on Primary Health Care (PHC) in Astana, Kazakhstan, on Oct 25–26, 2018, has built considerable momentum around a renewed vision for PHC. The success of this vision is key to achieving WHO's ambitious “triple billion target” by 2023: 1 billion more people with universal health coverage, 1 billion better protected from health emergencies, and 1 billion enjoying better health and wellbeing.
