Abstract
This report provides an analysis of the current law at regional and national level within the EU on the issue of age discrimination in the fields of social protection, education, housing, healthcare and access to goods and services. The Introduction to this report provides background information on the issue of age discrimination in the EU outside of the labour market and the proposed measures to
tackle this phenomenon. Section I of the report examines regional anti-discrimination protections based on age in both EU law and in ECHR law. Section II analyses the law on age discrimination in the current 27 EU Member States. Section III provides a series of conclusions and recommendations as to how the law on age discrimination outside of the labour market context should develop in order to ensure adequate protection against age discrimination in EU Member States and to achieve uniformity and equality with other grounds of discrimination within the EU.
