Abstract
A novel hexanuclear Fe(III) complex [Fe6(Hpida)6(μ2-O)3Na][NO3]·18H2O (1; H3pida = N-(2-hydroxypropyl)iminodiacetic acid) was prepd. by reaction of equimolar amts. of N-(2-hydroxypropyl)iminodiacetic acid with iron(III) nitrate and was shown by x-ray crystallog. to possess a prismatic structure contg. a Na ion in the core. Magnetic studies showed 1 to have very strong antiferromagnetic character. [on SciFinder(R)]
