    Abstract

It is generally agreed that the usage of a transmission system should be allocated among generators and loads on the basis of their contribution to the maximum flow in each branch. Identifying maximum flow conditions requires the consideration of a variety of load levels and of all contingencies within the security criteria. Instead of relying on marginal contributions to allocate the usage of the transmission system, this paper proposes a method based on the traceable contributions of each generator and of each load to branch flows. These contributions are traceable because their computation is based on tracking through the network the power produced by each generator or consumed by each load. ©1997 IEEE.
