Abstract
JANUS is a cloud-based intelligent data analytics and decision-making platform, developed as part of a two-year artificial intelligence (AI) project by Monition’s research and development (R&D) division, funded by InnovateUK, the UK’s innovation agency.
As a disruptive Industry 4.0 technology, JANUS enables intelligent health condition diagnostics for systems of assets, providing insight into potential causes of developing failures, opening up the ‘black box’ to traceability.
JANUS meets the challenge of scalability and can be applied to any system, regardless of complexity or level of operation. Modular design and internal flexibility of artificial intelligence (AI) and decision-making (DM) algorithms make JANUS adept at being ‘fit for purpose’, enabling seamless integration to any information technology (IT) infrastructure.
Future development involves platform integration to a programmable logic controller (PLC) leading to edge computing-based Internet of Things (IoT) technology. This innovation provides intelligent asset diagnostics, bringing significant efficiency and security benefits.
Application of the valuable JANUS outputs to determine operational performance levels of assets and remaining useful life (RUL) also accounts for further development streams.
