    Abstract

There is a greater annual increase in body mass index in children with asthma receiving inhaled steroids at a dose ≥400 μg/day (0.5 kg/m 2/year; n = 100) compared with those receiving ≤200 μg/day (0.1 kg/m2/year; n = 98) (P = .0003). This is consistent with an annual increase in body fat in children with asthma receiving ≥400 μg/day of inhaled steroids. Copyright © 2005 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
