Abstract

Sociedad y Discapacidad – SODIS and CRONICAS, Centro de Excelencia en Enfermedades Crónicas de la Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia, led by the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) undertook the ‘Applied Research on Inclu sion of Persons with Disabilities in Social Protection Systems’ project in Peru, commissioned on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Coop eration and Development (BMZ) by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. The objective of the research was to determine how persons with disabilities are and can be adequately included in social protection systems. To achieve this objective, the researchers carried out surveys and interviews among the population of the Morropón district in the department of Piura in order to analyse the inclusion of persons with dis abilities in Peru’s social protection programmes.
