Abstract

This article explores teacher, student and parent attitudes towards the use of the television show The Simpsons as a tool to engage middle years students in English. Although The Simpsons has been shown to be an effective text in engaging students, teachers avoid using it due to concerns about parental approval. The article reports a study conducted in a remote Queensland P-10 school and contributes to current understandings about the use of popular culture in the middle years.
