Abstract

Burning Bright: William Blake and the Art of the Book' was an exhibition held at The John Rylands Library between 8th February and 23rd June 2013.

The display was curated by Stella Halkyard (Visual Collections & Academic Engagement Manager at the John Rylands Library), based upon Colin Trodd’s Visions of Blake: William Blake in the Art World 1830-1930 (Liverpool University Press, 2012).

I wrote an online legacy version of the exhibition, which was supported by a grant from the AHRC-funded ‘Afterlife of Heritage Research Project’ led by the University of Manchester’s Institute of Cultural Practices.

In early 2018, the online exhibition was removed from the library's website as part of a decision by the library's marketing team not to archive any information about past exhibitions at the library on its website.

I personally archived all of the text from the online exhibition in the library's internal EMu database in 2015 in order to safeguard the content in case of such an eventuality, and I am now exploring possibilities to restore the online exhibition to make the content accessible again.
