note = "Butterflies was composed for me to play for the Yve Poprawski Dance Studio in Bad Kreuznach, Germany, and concerns itself with movement: specifically the spontaneity of movement of butterflies, observed near and far, individually and in groups. The harmony attempts to capture the warmth of the sunshine and the sweetness of the nectar on which they thrive. Unfortunately the music is not easy to dance to. Performance history:Premiered by Richard Whalley on 12 Aug, 2012 in Eglise Saint-Gervais in Ayron, France as part of the Concerts en nos Villages series run by ARAM-Poitou summer school, and subsequently performed by Richard Whalley at the Tanzstudio Yve Poprawski on 25 Oct 2012, with live improvisation by dancers. Further performances in Bad Kreuznach on 2 May, 2015, Altrincham on 28 Nov, 2015, and as part of New Music North West Festival in Manchester on 29 Jan, 2016.; Concerts en nos Villages ; Conference date: 12-08-2012",
