Abstract
A new group of chronically ill children who are dependent on technologyfor their survival has emerged as a result of medical advances. Many ofthese children are being cared for at home by their parents. However, inthe UK little is known about the prevalence or the experiences of fami-lies caring for technology-dependent children or of the professionals sup-porting them in the community. This article explores the potentialimplications for the practice and education of community-based nursescaring for technology-dependent children.
