Codesigning Digital Health Dashboards for falls management: A systematic review protocol

Research output: Contribution to conferencePoster

Abstract

Background: Digital health decision support tools (dashboards) hold potential in mitigating fall risks and supporting falls management. However, their effectiveness can depend on user engagement and usability which can be affected by how well the design of the dashboard meets the preferences, needs and capabilities of clinicians, older people, and other stakeholders (Stadler et al., 2016).
Objective: This systematic review will examine co-design practices employed when creating digital health dashboards for falls management, emphasising the role of different stakeholders such as nurses and older people, in enhancing the design, functionality, and content of the digital tool.
Methods: Bibliographic databases including MEDLINE, CINAHL, Embase, PsycINFO and the Cochrane Library will be searched using relevant keywords and search terms and results downloaded to Endnote. Results will be screened independently by two reviewers against inclusion and exclusion criteria using Rayaan software. Data from included studies will be extracted and analysed to present the co-design approaches used for developing digital health dashboards for falls management.
Preliminary Findings: The results will focus on co-design methodologies and user involvement in co-designing digital dashboards for falls management, and the impact of this approach on the usability and acceptance of digital dashboards.
Conclusion: The review findings will help guide future designs of digital health dashboards to help make them more effective, user-centred solutions.
