    Abstract

Any three-channel system that defines colour identities must assume some type of NX3 transform which models the combined effect of n distinct spectral sensations. Thus, any given colour identity maps onto infinitely many equivalent combinations of spectral power or 'metamers'. The existence of such metamers may in turn cause visual match disagreement between observers or Tristimulus colorimeters.
