Abstract
Using vibration for visualization is a promising research area. This paper investigates the foundation of vibration for visualization, by constructing and evaluating different Vibration Magnitude Models. To establish a vibration foundation, a three-component procedure, composed of an amplitude experiment, a frequency experiment and the mathematical construction, is presented to construct Vibration Magnitude Models. The method option for the frequency experiment is discussed by comparing Models I with II. Then a Magnitude Estimation & Intramodal Matching B-Spline Model customised for a PHANToM device is built and evaluated. ©2008 IEEE.
