    Abstract

This paper describes a counter current electrophoretic sampling system, whereby hydrodynamic flow is introduced in opposition to electrophoretic flow. The sampling is biased towards electrophoretically mobile ions, but rejects particulates by bulk flow. The geometry may be designed to sample from a macroscopic flow-injection environment and introduce ionic species into a miniaturized sepn. system such as capillary electrophoresis or capillary isotachophoresis. The main advantage of the design is that there are no phys. filters present that can block and reduce the lifetime of the device. [on SciFinder (R)]
